Buy Here Pay Here Financing Basics By Jon Acuff

What does "Buy Here Pay Here" mean?
Buy Here Pay Here (BHPH) financing means that you arrange a loan and make payments on it at the dealership. You purchase the car through what's referred to as in-house financing versus through a third party, such as a bank.
Instead of making monthly payments to a traditional lender, you make weekly or bi-weekly payments at the dealership. Although some BHPH dealerships will accept payment by phone or online, many require that you physically bring a check or cash to their location. You therefore "buy" the car at the dealership and "pay" on the loan at the dealership.
What's the difference between a BHPH dealership and a traditional dealership?
Depending on the dealerships you visit, very little. In fact, many traditional new and used car dealerships have started to offer BHPH financing as an option. You might not see "Buy Here Pay Here" written across the windshields of their cars, but phrases such as "We Finance" may indicate that option is available.
The key difference between a traditional dealership and one that specializes strictly in BHPH financing lies in the shopping experience. At a traditional dealership, the financial conversation is often the last part of your discussion. After you've seen a few models, asked a host of car questions and possibly test driven one, the dealer will help you explore payment options.
At a BHPH dealership, the process is usually reversed. The dealer will ask you a series of questions, possibly run a credit report and invest in understanding your credit experience before showing you available cars. Then, with your monthly payment range and down payment information factored in, the dealer will show you cars that fit your financial situation.
Who should go to a BHPH dealership?
BHPH dealerships are primarily designed for shoppers who may have experienced significant financial bumps and bruises. If your credit score is on the lower end of the scale or if you've had trouble getting an auto loan, a BHPH dealership should be one of the places you visit during a car search.
What are the benefits of BHPH financing?
1.   Available cars, available credit
The most important benefit of BHPH financing is that it gives credit-challenged people the opportunity to get much-needed transportation. In many cases, BHPH dealerships aren't just an option — they may be theonly option when someone has been turned down by traditional loan institutions.
2.   Opportunities to improve creditOne of the ways to rebuild a credit history is to make timely payments on an installment loan. If you consistently make payments on a BHPH car loan, many dealers will report that positive behavior to the credit reporting agencies. Over time, your credit score can improve. Make sure you ask the dealership if reporting is a policy they follow.
3.   Trade-in flexibility
BHPH dealerships tend to be more forgiving when it comes to accepting trade-ins on older model cars. That's because these types of dealerships understand the value and benefit of getting long-term use out of cars that many traditional dealerships would not accept. They are more likely to find a buyer for your car and thus more likely to take it as part of a trade-in.
To learn more about your possible options, use the Car Credit Wizard. This tool can estimate your credit level and get a list of dealers who are equipped to help you.

2005 Black Infiniti G 35 available at Crown Auto Sales and Finance in Charlotte

http://www.BuyatCrown.com

"Rear drive and lovin' it" is the G35's motto. Power oversteer, slashing-quick steering, fearless brakes, six big holes under the hood, and six gears in your right hand.
We've been yakking good things about the G35 since Infiniti pulled the sheets off it in 2002. Draped over a 112.2-inch suspension bridge of a wheelbase is a tidy shape marked by clipped overhangs and quad afterburner taillights. Share this good taste with friends. The cabin has so much space to spare that the back bench has adjustable seatback rake. At 15 cubic feet, the G35's trunk ties the Saab's for largest, and the lid has an obvious release button below the left taillamp. Many of these cars have no release button or one hidden where dirt collects.
At 3520 pounds, the G35 ranks among the lightest here. At $34,760 as tested (without navigation), the G35 trades with the cheapest here. It also runs with the faster crowd, the 3.5-liter VQ V-6 now good for 298 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Launch at a lazy 3500 rpm, and it'll do 5.9-second sprints to 60 mph and 70-to-0 stops in 169 feet. We've ranted before on the comical confusion of textures and colors in the G35's cockpit. No idea goes wasted, including the one to make the gauge graduations orange and the redline marker a pale shadow all but impossible to see. One idea that strikes us as genius quality: hitching the instrument pod to the steering column so they move as a unit. Nobody complained of obscured vision.
Although it flits up mountain roads with stability and quick reflexes, the G35 doesn't punish you for your fun with a brittle ride. The car did demonstrate some of its coarseness for which we have criticized it in the past, including elevated road noise in the cabin, chatter in the steering column over bumps, and an unpleasant graunching of return springs each time the clutch was pressed. The stability control was prone to fire a brake caliper or two even when the car was well within its slip limits

Toyota reveals safety research car at CES The goal: A car that makes its driver safer

Toyota reveals safety research car at CES

The goal: A car that makes its driver safer

One day before the International Consumer Electronics Show opened its doors in Las Vegas, Toyota took the wraps off the highest-tech Lexus LS ever made.
The car -- with spinning sensors and probing lasers galore -- is meant to demonstrate safety features that could be coming to production cars someday soon.
Called the Advanced Safety Research Vehicle, it sure looked like some of the autonomous self-driving vehicles we saw at the DARPA Challenge, but Toyota stressed that a robot car is not the goal.
“While key components of these research efforts could lead to a fully autonomous car in the future, the vision is not necessarily a car that drives itself,” a Toyota statement read. “Instead, Toyota and Lexus envision technologies that enhance the skills of the driver, believing a more skillful driver is a safer driver.”
Those technologies -- all bolted and strapped to the outside of the big luxury sedan -- are pretty impressive:
-- A 360-degree LIDAR laser on the roof that detects objects around the car up to about 230 feet away.
-- Three high-definition color cameras that detect objects up to 500 feet away, including traffic lights and even vehicles approaching from the side.
-- One radar on the front of the vehicle and three on the sides to measure the location and speed of objects, for comprehensive views at intersections.
-- A distance measurement indicator located on a rear wheel to measure travel distance and speed of the vehicle.
-- An inertial measurement unit on the roof to gauge acceleration and angle changes to determine vehicle behavior.
-- GPS antennae on the roof to estimate angle and orientation even before the vehicle is in motion.
“The research vehicle is a testing platform aimed at the development of systems capable of enhancing the driver's perception of their environment, assisting in the decision-making process and improving overall driving skills,” Toyota said.
The Advanced Safety Research Vehicle also incorporates systems already on Toyota and Lexus vehicles, such as ABS, Lane-Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Some of the most advanced components of the car will allow it to use short wave signals to communicate with other vehicles and with roadside sensors. The program even gets its own 8.6-acre Intelligent Transportation System proving grounds at Toyota's Higachi-Fuji Technical Center in Japan. Those communications will alert drivers to impending collisions at blind intersections, vehicles changing lanes in a blind spot and potential rear collisions with a vehicle stopped ahead.
“In our pursuit of developing more advanced automated technologies, we believe the driver must be fully engaged,” said Mark Templin, Toyota group vice president and general manger of the Lexus Division. “For Toyota and Lexus, a driverless car is just a part of the story. Our vision is a car equipped with an intelligent, always-attentive co-pilot whose skills contribute to safer driving.”

Ford to offer Rhapsody online music service in 1 million vehicles

LAS VEGAS (Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co. will offer Rhapsody International Inc.'s Internet music service in more than 1 million Ford and Lincoln vehicles, the online company's first tie-in with an automaker.
Ford and Rhapsody were set to introduce the service today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to a statement. Listeners with Ford's Sync-enabled cars and trucks can use voice commands and buttons on the steering wheel to control functions on their smartphones.
With U.S. consumers listening to music most often behind the wheel, cars are a logical battleground for Web music services, including Pandora Media Inc. Rhapsody said 40 percent of subscribers use the service while driving. Voice commands and steering wheel buttons offer a safer way to run the service on Bluetooth-linked smartphones.
"Our customers see the limitations of terrestrial radio and Sirius XM satellite radio," Jon Irwin, president of Rhapsody, said in an interview. "They want full access to their music in the car."
Rhapsody is talking with other automakers about integrating the service, Irwin said, without being more specific. Pandora said in December its service is available in 75 vehicle models.
Ford Sync is available on the 2013 Fiesta, Mustang, Expedition, Fusion, F-150, Super Duty, Focus, E-Series and C- MAX, the company said in the statement. Ford has already integrated Pandora, Slacker Media Inc.'s web radio and Clear Channel Communications Inc.'s iHeartRadio.
"We want to give customers as many options as we can," Elizabeth Halash, AppLink product development engineer for Ford, said in an interview. "If they're already a Rhapsody user, they know the service and use it all the time, we want to allow that in the car as well and to use it hands-free."
Viacom Inc.'s MTV, Vivendi SA's Universal Music, Sony Corp. and Best Buy Co. own stakes in Rhapsody, Irwin said.

3 Great Cheap Cars

3 great cheap cars Ford Fiesta Price: $13,320 - $17,120 Mileage: 28 City / 37 Hwy Surprise! The most fuel efficient, fun-to-drive inexpensive subcompact sold in America is the Ford Fiesta. Seriously, it's true. And it gets even crazier because the most fun to drive Ford Fiesta -- ironically the one with the automatic transmission -- is also the most fuel efficient. No, it's not backwards day at CNNMoney.com. The Fiesta's twin-clutch automatic transmission sends power almost continuously to the wheels, the gear switches happening almost instantaneously. And that nicely complements the Fiesta's quick, responsive handling. Chevrolet Cruze Price: $16,275 - $21,975 Mileage: 24 City / 36 Hwy And here's another surprise! General Motors makes a really nice small car. The best thing about the Chevy Cruze is that it looks, feels and drives like a real car. It's not one of those "be happy you even have a car" tin cans on wheels. The interior is made from better-than-you-paid-for stuff while the ride quality and performance are, likewise, a notch above. Most small car buyers are after practicality and comfort, not kicks, and the Cruze delivers with an airy-feeling interior and large, easy-to-pack trunk. Things might have turned out differently for GM had it made a car like this ten years ago. Better late than never. Honda Fit Price: $14,900 - $16,410 Mileage: 27 City / 33 Hwy Finally, something you'd expect. The Honda Fit is a perennial in these sorts of lists and for good reason. While it's known for being small and fun, the thing that really sets the Fit apart is its flexibility and practicality. The Fit almost makes you wonder why we need small crossover SUVs. While not looking like one of those trendy box-on-wheels compacts, the sporty Fit really crams about as much storage space as you could ever imagine into its little body.

Destroyed Cars From Hurricane Sandy

Some fantastic images of the destruction left by Hurricane Sandy as she swept in through the East Coast.

Now, one of the things I am very interested in is when all these vehicles start drying out and many will no doubt enter the Used Car Market! Scary as that sounds, it is almost guaranteed to happen. People who do not have the best insurance coverage, or dealers who are only interested in making a quick buck are going to be all over these the snow in West Virginia!
Do yourself a favor and if you are looking for a Used Car Charlotte, please be careful and use that link. It will let you see the best of the 'Buy Here Pay Here' dealers in Charlotte North Carolina.

And on a lighter note…

Used Car Dealer Charlotte NC

I have been driving for close to twenty years and I have only seen six, maybe seven accidents in that time. I have no doubt driven hundreds of thousands of miles, through different States and different countries. It is little wonder that I begin to feel safe, travelling around in my Used Car Dealer Charlotte NC car.

It is only when I see videos like this one that I begin to start feeling slightly less safe!

Russian Dash Cams

Now, Russia has a problem with drivers intentionally crashing into each other for insurance purposes. I am pretty sure that it has reduced the number of fake insurance claims, however it has also given us thousands of hours of regular people driving on the roads, seeing what they see. This results in hundreds and hundreds of crashes being caught on film.

This makes me think about what sort of used car I would now buy to try and protect myself and my family from disasters like this. Which are the safest cars on the road? Do I want to expose myself to the possibility of a rollover in an SUV? Would I be safer in the first place with the additional weight and higher driving position that an SUV offers?

One of the old CEO's of Volvo (One of the worlds safest cars) had his car equipped with a simple roll cage and fitted a 4 point racing harness for every seat. He did the after spending hours and hours watching cars being ripped apart in crash tests. Now, this was a number of years ago and safety has improved greatly since that time. However just how safe are you in your Buy Here Pay Here Charlotte NC used car nowadays?
